pretty bath spaces...

These pretty bathrooms are getting me excited about my own bath remodel, that will be finished early next week!  I can hardly wait!  Especially since Henry is sleeping in his bassinet in the master bath at the moment.  It makes Adam's 5. a.m. rise and shine a little difficult!
Also happening here next week:

1. New black aluminum fence in the yard!
2.  My couch will finally arrive on Friday!
3.  Bathroom will be finished!
4. Finley will make the big transition to her toddler bed!  Wish us luck! (lots of it)

Pretty and Inspiring Spaces...

I have either a horrible sinus infection or a terrible, no good cold.  Either way it feels like my head is 10x it's normal size...Finley had music class today, which was so nice to get out of the house with her, esp. since we have contractors working here still.  Now both babes are asleep so I think I may try to squeeze a nap in myself before I have to figure out dinner!  Here are some inspiring and beautiful spaces for you to enjoy!
I feel helpless with my living room until my new sofa arrives (april 1st delivery date) so until then I can just pretend that it is a beautiful space instead of a giant playroom!  Enjoy my friends!

mother/daughter shopping adventure

What Finley found...

what mommy found...

fedora for the beach

And we found this all at Old Navy!
Seems as they are channeling Rikshaw Designs, which happens to be a
personal favorite of mine!  Either way, love my espadrilles.  $24.00 and they are actually really comfortable!!  Wouldn't mind picking up a few other colors as well!

Rainy Days...

It's raining and we are bored.  I have been up since 4:30 a.m.  First to feed Henry and then to take care of Finley at 5 who had a bad dream and wouldnt go back to sleep.  So at that point I figured I might as well stay up which has made for a long, rainy day.
Wish I had a cute playroom for Finley like the one above on days like this...

Adam's most requested meal (other than steak)

I thought I'd share with you today a favorite dinner in my house.  These are the most delicious and EASY meatballs!  Adam has been requesting them A LOT lately and I must say that I do not mind because A.) They are delicious and
B.) They are EASY (esp. if you wanted to make them for a dinner party mainly because you do not have to stand at the stove to cook them.  These meatballs are baked!)  The recipe comes from Barefoot Contessa How Easy Is That? cookbook although I have tweaked it a little bit to my/his liking.  You can always freeze half, as this recipe makes enough for 8 people!
3 cups of cubed italian bread
2/3 cup of milk
2 pounds of ground beef (or ground turkey)
1/2 pound of Sweet Italian pork sausage
4 ounces of thinly sliced prosciutto, finley chopped
1 cup fresh grated asiago cheese (or parm)
1/2 cup minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
kosher salt, fresh ground pepper
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 xl eggs, lightly beaten
3 (24) ounce jars of yummy marinara sauce
2 pounds of dried spaghetti
Fresh grated parmesean, for serving

Preheat oven to 400 and line two sheet pans with parchment paper
Place bread cubes in a food processor or chopper and process until they are medium crumbs.
Place crumbs in a small bowl and add the milk and set aside for a few minutes

In the bowl of a stand mixer or in a large mixing bowl combine the ground beef, sausage, prosciutto, bread mixture, asiago, parsley, oregano, red pepper flakes, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper.
Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil and the eggs and mix lightly to combine.

Lightly roll the mixture into two inch balls and place on parchment paper covered pans.
Brush the meatballs with olive oil and bake for 35 to 45minutes or until they look like this...

Pour the marinara into a large pot and add the meatballs.  Bring to a simmer.
If you are like me you don't need the spaghetti noodles to enjoy this meal!  Just add shaved parmesean.
If you are like my husband, then place cooked spaghetti in individual bowls and top with meatballs, sauce, and parm.

I really suggest you try!!

coveting closets (organized ones that is)

My closet is a mess at the moment.  I have not found the time or energy post baby to fix this mess!
But I envy all of you who have beautifully organized closets!
The thing is, my closet is of good size, it's a walk-in, and is full of built-ins.
It has potential.
I like to organize, but keeping it that way is what my husband and I find difficult ;)  It's just easier to close the door sometimes!  But with inspiration and hopefully a good nights sleep tonight, I am going to tackle this mess tomorrow.  I think the only way to start is to take absolutely everything out of it and start from scratch!!
I'll let you know how I do...and if any of you want to help, come on over!!

10 things...

Ten things I've learned about having 2 under 2...

1. In order to start the day I need two cups of coffee and lots of Diet Coke.
2.  If I don't wake up at 5:30, I won't have any time to myself.
3.  Sometimes you just have to surrender to the messy house, piles of laundry, dishes in the sink
(my pet peeve!) and sit down.
4.  Little boys pee on you A LOT!
5.  Refrigerators need locks, as well as pantrys, and boxes of lucky charms.
6.  In order to end the day, a large glass of wine is a must.
7.  Only one glass though...alcohol is not your friend with 2 under 2.
8.  5 p.m., when your husband walks through the door, cannot come soon enough!
9. A close eye must be kept on the oldest child at all times.  Otherwise you will find them coloring on your    checkbook, taking sharpies to your laptop, stashing bottles of her fathers alergy medicine in the infants bassinet,  wheeling the baby around the house while he is screaming in his bassinet, and smashing lucky charms into your sheets.
10.  Although it is tough and sometimes challenging,  I wouldn't change a darn thing about it :)

Bathroom renovation update

So the contractor and plumber are on their way over as we speak.  Here is what Adam and I have decided for the shower.  Thoughts?
I'm just waiting for either the contractor or plumber to say "nope, can't do it" because that is usually what happens when I show them pictures ; )  There is usually some obstacle stopping us.  Hopefully that is not the case this time!
In the meantime, where can I buy these???
Saw these over on Rikshaw's blog and thought a case would be a must!
It's that time of year when the Lilly obsession starts in...
Spring and Summer are coming!

Baby Brain...

Ok so my son was not born in January!!
It was obvious that I was in need of a nap when I posted that!
Sweet Henry was born on February 21st, 2011, not January!
But I am sure most of you knew what I was talking about and those of you who have had the experience of being a new mommy understand.  We just aren't perfect and we don't get everything right!
So what have I been doing all week?  Resting, feeding, playing with Finley as much as I can, and now reading.  Which happens to be unusual for me.  I don't normally read.  I would rather needlepoint or read design blogs or surf the internet for that perfect piece of furniture my house seems to be missing.
So what am I reading?  A book my mom suggested for me...

So far I love it...
Probably because it hits close to home!
City girl who falls in love with a fourth generation rancher and
their love story.
Ree's cookbook:
Which I believe is the key to Adam's heart!
The recipes in here look delicious and wholesome and definitely
meant to feed the hungry, red meat loving, man in my life.
Check out Ree's website and blog full of photography, recipes, and her story...

Henry Frank York

He is here.  My sweet baby boy...
Henry Frank York was born Monday, February 21st at 4:37 p.m.
He was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 22 inches long.
He came 15 days early and arrived a very healthy little boy!
Today he is 8 days old, which is hard to believe already!  I have been enjoying a week of settling in to my new life with two kiddos under the age of 2 and so far it has been incredible!
I couldn't imagine my life any different...
