missing the beach...

I've been at the beach and I am wishing I was still there...
But reality calls and we are back
 in the midwestern heat.
We have a busy week ahead with a big party to
plan and potty training to begin!
Wish me luck!

Photos of my babes

Yesterday we had the kiddos photos taken by Jake Sorrill of If Only...Photography.  Check out his blog for more photos from the shoot!
I feel like I have been such a slacker with Henry.  I had Finley's photos taken all the time!
We did a few outside and it was so darn hot we all started sweating and moved indoors asap!
I thought these really caught each child's personality and we always have fun with Jake!  Finley LOVES Jake and made him carry her around outside in this awful heat!

Oh well...we are off to the beach tomorrow.  Going to put the sleepy kiddos in the car at the crack of dawn and hope they sleep all 8 hours!  Wishful thinking, huh?

I am hosting a few different parties at our home in the next two months.  A wedding celebration, a baby shower, and a birthday party.  Here are a few fun ideas I found on pinterest this morning!  Love the diaper pins on the soda bottles and the mini french toasts!
Hope everyone in the midwest stays nice and cool today!
Keep those pups hydrated and indoors!

garden envy

If you read the May issue of House Beautiful, then you are probably just as in love with this gorgeous garden as I am.  We had big plans for a garden this year, but with a new baby and all it just didn't happen.  Well now we have really big plans for a garden thanks to that gorgeous cedar fence that my husband is going to have to build this winter along with the raised garden beds.
and it is all going to go right here...

We are also planting an orchard full of fruit trees so there will be lots of yummy pies to come!
Guess that means I need to learn how to make a delicious crust!

calming bedrooms

Hello Sunday...
It's been a quiet (and hot) day around here.  Both children are sleeping and Adam is, you guessed it, working.
Hot, hot weather on a farm = must run irrigators.  Come on technology!  Let's figure out a way to run those puppies from a computer so we can be at the beach!!
Beach soon enough, headed back north this week!! Ready for a cool breeze, and cool evenings!

Aren't these lantern lights adorable?
Perfect for a beach house!
Must find one!

It's been over a year that I have been running this blog and I have barely posted any photos of my home.  Probably because I always feel like each room is unfinished and I hate to share until it is, but I am going to anyway.  I apologize for the iphone quality photos of my kitchen above.  Here is a sneak peek of the kitchen.  I am searching for a table to put under the window for my herbs and I have two empire chandeliers that I want to replace the one that is hanging with.  I just need to find replacements for them before I move them.  So you can see what I mean by unfinished.
Oh Well...

Since we have been home from vacation, I am feeling extremely unorganized!  The house is a mess and everything seems to need a home!  I was playing around on pinterest this morning and found lots of great organized spaces!  A little inspiration perhaps?
Crazy morning already!  Sweet Finley locked herself in the car with both sets of keys.  Yes, this was my fault...Luckily I got her to unlock the door after I burst into tears!
We were late for chi ball class!  Now I am getting ready for my session with Josh.  My sister in law and I have been meeting with a personal trainer to fix all of this baby weight!  So far it has paid off and we are feeling healthy!

Well we are home from a week at the beach.  It was great, but always nice to be home.  Especially with two little ones that require sleep and a routine.  Both are asleep still which is just lovely!  It is always bittersweet leaving Epworth, however, we will be going back later this month.
As soon as I charge my camera battery, I will load some photos onto here to show you all the changes we have made to one of the beach houses.  It was fun working on finishing touches while we were there!
