weekly roundup

I am obsessing over this raffia wrapped lamp.

I have been watching this show.  Of course for the design but also because I think Jeremiah is hilarious...

One of my best friends is an amazing cook and I love it when she sends me recipes to try.  She said this was wonderful.

This is the perfect, easy to throw on, beach tunic, love the scalloped edge

garage arbor

Slowly but surely I have been making progress with the garage.  With the help of my sister in law, I installed the lights.   I am ready to paint the garage doors (someday I'll put a new door on) and the final step is to add a beautiful arbor over the garage door.  I am not sure I even want to grow anything on it or just leave it.  It definitely has been rewarding bringing it back to life.
I'll post updated photos soon...

styling bookshelves

I absolutely love built in or free standing bookshelves.  They can provide just the right statement in a room and can easily become the center of attention in your space.  That makes styling them correctly so important.  Styling bookshelves is one of my favorite ways to re-energize my home when it starts to feel a little stale.  They never stay the same for long.  So here are a few tips and tricks I use when styling shelves.

1.  Start with the larger items first
I like to begin with large vases and coffee table books and then add in the smaller items such as frames, beads, and objects of interest.

2.  Group in twos and threes
Odd numbers tend to make a more eye appealing grouping but I do also group two items together if they are different heights.  Don't be afraid to play around to see what works best.

3.  Create a collected look
Try not to make your shelves too symmetrical.  You want your shelves to feel like you have collected pieces and not like you staged them.

4.  Add wallpaper.
Such as a textured grasscloth or a fun pattern for interest.  There are soo many styles to choose from right now and I LOVE textured wallpaper.  It can really transform even the tiniest space.

5.  Keep it clean and fresh looking.
You may have to play around with your items to keep the shelves from being over styled.  Adding too many items will make them feel crowded.  Less is more and will keep them from looking too cluttered.

pantry love

So today I overslept, by an hour.  That really threw me off.  I have a list piling up of to-do's and just realized that today it just ain't gonna happen...
And for once I am totally fine with that.  On days like this I end up doing something totally not on my to-do list.  Like grocery shop and then spend an hour organizing my pantry.  Let's be honest, this is one of my favorite things to do.
So I'll leave you with a little pantry organization inspiration from The Home Edit.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP

I am eyeing these swimsuits for Finley...

This recipe has become a go to in our family.  My kids devour this meal and I'm a sucker for a good lemon chicken dish.

This before and after tudor home is unreal good.  Once again, Studio McGee knocks it out of the park.

John Mayer always gets to me but this one I love and have had playing a lot lately...

And then there is this gorgeous space below by Amanda Barnes Interiors.  Those blush couches are gorgeous and I love use of space in this long and narrow room.

Have a beautiful weekend friends

DESIGN CRUSH : Old Seagrove Homes

Old Seagrove Homes  is a husband/wife design team that builds and decorates seriously gorgeous dream homes by the beach in Seagrove, Florida.  We vacation there and I would rather spend hours riding my bike around the neighborhoods of Old Seagrove beach house stalking than anything else.

We stumbled upon some of the homes they are currently building when we were there in February and I immediately lost all focus on anything else.  These are serious DREAM homes.  I love their fresh aesthetic and how they mix materials.

Favorite Etsy shops for pillows

My love for throw pillows is massive so I wanted to share some of my favorite go to shops on Etsy with you all.  So many more than what I have even listed but these are definitely places I always look first when shopping for throw pillows.  Most are custom made which makes them a little more special.  Click on the shop name for links.

I always find the perfect pillows here and even better they pair several together into a collection which makes it extremely shopper friendly.

Tons of designer fabric options here and they also do window treatments.

Danielle Oakey shop is full of unique textiles and all
the mud cloth you could hope for.  She also offers a discount for 5 or more pillows.

This shop is full of classics and current favorites.  So many pretty choices here makes it hard to choose.

weekly roundup

It's Easter Sunday, 9 pm and I am blogging for this past Friday's post.  Truth is I woke up early Friday morning, sat here with a cup of coffee and I just had nothing...
So I got up and went for a run and then started painting my garage.  Some days are just like that...
We had a wonderful and quiet Easter.  My mother and extended family were out of town this weekend so we just hung out here with the kids and enjoyed our day.  It was lovely and relaxing....
Anyway....

I found great tips for spring Cleaning your kitchen here

I am currently coveting this feminine skirt for spring.  It's so sweet.

I am majorly obsessed with this color palette for interiors right now.  Every single color...

and I am totally in love with this house tour... and want to know when can I move in?

Hope you had a blessed Easter and you are ready for the week ahead.

garage progress...

If you follow along on Instagram you know that I got the crazy idea to rip the siding off of our garage.  The mower threw a rock and made a small hole and I discovered the entire garage had cedar shingles underneath.  Pretty amazing...
We tore the shingles off, I power washed and scraped, and now have one coat on.  I took a few days break because we had rain and a busy schedule but I will be right back at it this weekend.
Here are a few pics so far...

I realize these are totally raw photos but I am still working hard.  Garage needs two more coats of paint and I am going to paint the garage door.  Side door is Benjamin Moore Stone Harbor and that is what I am going to put on the garage door.

I also need to pick out the new lights which will be fun.  Right now I can't decide between a galvanized gooseneck (since this is a farmhouse) or a flush mount sconce...
Opinions?

Have a great day! xo

wall trellis

I am a little obsessed with creating a wall trellis outdoors.  I found a DIY here and think this may be one of my next outdoor projects.  I have the perfect spot waiting for me to make this beautiful thing happen.  We saw a lot of this happening when we were in Florida this year and my mom and I absolutely fell in love.

Monday Morning

It's Monday morning.  I am looking forward to the fresh start of a new week.   I painted our garage, planted our garden, and held a first birthday party this weekend.  If I told you I wasn't exhausted I would be lying but it was also very rewarding.  I love working outside when the weather is beautiful.  Have a great Monday. xo,
